One of Madison Avenue Pub's Great Patio's | Love This City

Madison Avenue Pub | Love This City

To all of the young adults out there, what are you doing this Thursday night? If you don’t have any plans as of right now, you should really think about hittin’ up the Madison Avenue Pub! For years, this popular pub (or what some refer to as, The Maddy) has been a hot spot for young individuals living and/or visiting Toronto. This Frat House looking pub is located at 14 Madison Ave, about a block or so away from Bloor St. W. and pretty close to Spadina Station. So, what is it that makes such a fun place to be?

Well as an avid Maddygoer myself, I can’t help but love the amount of money I DON’T spend at The Maddy. If you happen to attend on a Thursday, you will be required to pay a $5.00 cover, BUT don’t fret because you will be treated with a free drink ticket that applies to almost EVERY drink! So, if you’re a young student like me, you are probably looking to have a ton of fun in the cheapest possible way possible and The Maddy can definitely help you find what you’re looking for. Also, if you’re like me, one drink is not enough and therefore you’ll love that additional drinks are priced fairly as domestic bottles and rail drinks are only $3.50, taxes included. Honestly, what’s most important is that you and your friends will have a good time and The Maddy is guaranteed to meet your expectations of a fun filled Thursday night.

Even though this well-liked hot spot has mostly a pub-like atmosphere, it does offer a variety of settings. For example, there is a room with a piano man (which most of my colleagues like to refer to as, the Piano Man room), who plays TONS well known songs, and let me be the first to tell you- you will lose your voice if you enter this room. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve lost my voice from belting out songs like, Billy Joel’s-“Piano Man”, Elton John’s- “Benny and the Jets” and Outkast’s hit, “Roses”. However, I must say that I am well aware that not everyone has a beautiful singing voice, but don’t worry because if you walk up a flight of stairs, you will notice that there is a packed dance floor. Tons of Frat boys, Sorority girls and other young adults move along to the songs of Lady Gaga, DMX, TLC, Avicci and more. Aside from The Maddy providing the different settings I just mentioned, it also has great patio areas. One of which provides a bunch of picnic tables, which are great if you come with a big group or would just like to meet new people. The second provides a bunch of high top tables, which are good if you just love to observe the scene, enjoy a drink or two and schmooze with other young individuals. In addition to The Maddy providing many different atmospheres within onesetting, I have yet to discuss one of my favourite things about the place- the food, of course. The late night menu has a lot of different options for even the pickiest eaters to choose from such as fries, burgers, onion rings and salads. I’ve had the pleasure of filling my belly with a lot of the different food options and I can honestly say that The Maddy has the best drunk food.

So, as you can tell, The Maddy is a fun-filled pub that offers many different settings fit to please every type of person for almost no money at all. Try it out and thank me later.
