It was a coat collectors dream—designer Ilan Elfassy’s Soia &Kyo presented last Thursday at World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto. This was a big year for Soia & Kyo, celebrating the line’s 10th anniversary since its launch in 2004 and fourth appearance at Toronto Fashion Week.

“I have to have that!” was commonly overheard from top buyers and fashion trendsetters in the audience, as the outerwear designer sent his models down the runway in a palette of creamy neutrals, jeweled clarets, smoky greys and classic earth tones, a default in every woman’s closet. Ilan’s structured and silhouette flattering cuts, incorporated the richest of fabrics, including wool, a touch of leather and fur trims. The oversized hoods and collars were the perfect touch of youthfulness, and we could only wish the silk apparel, made exclusively for the show, would be incorporated into the rest of his beautiful collection, sold and loved around the world.

Check out our up close and personal interview with Soia & Kyo designer, Ilan Elfassy, backstage before his show, where he shares his views on being back at Toronto Fashion Week, his collection, and even spoils us with the opportunity to wear one of his latest pieces while he breaks down the essentials of his beautiful jackets.
